Next Sunday's lesson

We hope you enjoyed General Conference!

After the many inspiring talks given, President Monson urged us to study the messages further when they come out in print.  Our prophet admonished us to be good citizens of the nations in which we live, and good neighbours in our communities, reaching out to those of other faiths as well as our own.  He also reminded us to follow the Savior's example of love and good will toward all man - to be tolerant, kind and loving to those who do not share our beliefs and standards.  We should pray to be aware of the needs of those around us and be ever ready to extend to them a helping hand and a loving heart.
Revelations 3:20
If we put our trust in the Lord, he will help us through our difficulties whatever they may be.  President Monson encouraged us to strengthen our testimonies of the gospel, that they may be a protection to us from the buffetings of the adversary.  He ended Conference with a blessing upon our homes and families.

For your information, the Relief Society lesson this coming Sunday will be Chapter 7: Faithfulness in Times of Trial: From the Shadows into the Glorious Sunshine.

Have a great week!

General Conference is coming up!

General Conference is an opportunity to hear the Word of God.  Elder Holland says, “If we teach by the Spirit and you listen by the Spirit, some one of us will touch on your circumstance, sending a personal prophetic epistle just to you.”

The more prepared you are to receive personal inspiration, the more you will get out of Conference.  Ponder and record what concerns and questions you need inspiration for.

RS Meetings

Our February RS Meeting, "Desserts, De-stress, & De-clutter" was such a great night with a big turn-out.

Relaxing yoga, delicious desserts, and helpful household management tips, made for an enjoyable evening.

We would like to express a big thank you to all who participated!

Our March Party was a wonderful way to celebrate the anniversary of the Relief Society.

Before working together to offer tokens of love and service to our sisters, Sister Hawkes encouraged us to Extend Our Reach.

In the very earliest days of the Relief Society, Lucy Mack Smith, mother of the
Prophet Joseph Smith, gave prophetic counsel. She advised the sisters then and now that: "
We must cherish one another, watch over one another, comfort one another and gain instruction, that we may all sit down in heaven together.”

President Monson has said, "There is a serious need for the charity that gives attention to those who are unnoticed, hope to those who are discouraged, aid to those who are afflicted. True charity is love in action. The need for charity is everywhere."

Sister Hawkes spoke of the need to:
1.Pray for each other
2.Reach out.  (If you are comfortable and happy in this ward and community, please reach out to someone who might not be.  If you are feeling alone or isolated, please reach out too, though it might be hard at first.)
3.Never give up!  There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear - 1 John 4:18

Be the change.  :)  "Let’s reach out to our sisters so we can achieve the state spoken of by Alma: “having their hearts knit together in unity and love one towards another.” When we so “cherish one another” and “watch over one another”, we will be able to look forward to the day when we “all sit down in heaven together.”

Our next RS Meeting will be a day event on gardening.

What a great way to welcome in Spring!  It will be at Chelsea's house at 9:30 on April 11th.  We will have a gardening expert there to get us excited for the season.  Don't feel like you have to know anything about gardening to come - she will be addressing issues for the beginner, intermediate, and advanced gardeners in our Relief Society.  It is always worth the initial work to enjoy the convenience and thrill of harvesting fresh food right out of your own backyard, whether you plant a small pot of herbs or a big garden!  Hope to see you there!

Presidency lesson

Karen gave our lesson this month.  Here are a couple of quotes to think about:

In a talk by Cheryl A. Esplin second counselor in the primary general Presidency she said
This divine privilege of raising our children is a much greater responsibility than we can do alone, without the Lord’s help. He knows exactly what our children need to know, what they need to do, and what they need to be to come back into His presence. He gives mothers and fathers specific instruction and guidance through the scriptures, His prophets, and the Holy Ghost.

Elder Bednar said this about sharing out testimonies with our children:

Parents should be vigilant and spiritually attentive to spontaneously occurring opportunities to bear testimony to their children. Such occasions need not be programmed, scheduled, or scripted. In fact, the less regimented such testimony sharing is, the greater the likelihood for edification and lasting impact. “Neither take ye thought beforehand what ye shall say; but treasure up in your minds continually the words of life, and it shall be given you in the very hour that portion that shall be meted unto every man” (D&C 84:85).
