Well, it is official. Spring has sprung and I am loving it. As the days began to lengthen I anxiously awaited its arrival. Renewal of energy began to build, and the spring clean fever set in. Blinds stayed open; winter paraphernalia was left in the closet. Dusty bikes and roller blades were re-discovered. Several of our neighbours put their houses on the market, and we savour the flavour of BBQ again. And when the crisp spring breeze is a little too nippy, we take turns basking in the warmth of the sun beaming through the south windows.
But is seemed to be more than just the awakening of spring I was feeling. It was a skip in my step and a smile on my face. The weight of winter was shed and it was an awakening inside of me. One day as I was sitting at my piano casually playing some hymns when I realized Eliza R. Snow more accurately penned my feelings through these words.
"There is sunshine in my soul today, more glorious and bright
Than glows in any earthly sky, for Jesus is my light.
There is music in my soul today, a carol to my King,
And Jesus listening can hear the songs I cannot sing.
There is springtime in my soul today, for when the Lord is near,
The dove of peace sings in my heart, the flowers of grace appear.
There is gladness in my soul today, and hope and praise and love.
For blessings which he gives me now, for joys "laid up" above.
Chorus:
Oh, there's sunshine, blessed sunshine when the peaceful happy moments roll.
When Jesus shows his smiling face, there is sunshine in the soul.
(There Is Sunshine In My Soul Today - Hymn 227)
There is sunshine in my soul and I am loving it.
Happy Spring!
Smiles,
Corinne Yee
