Thank you to everyone who participated in our activity last month and helped make baby blankets for the children's hospital.
If you weren't able to come or participate that night, but would still like to help out, we would love to have more blankets. They can be any type of fabric and style (just new) and "crib" size.
We will be delivering all completed blankets to the hospital Friday May 13th. You can drop them off at Chelsea Sheer's house, or contact her if you need more information.

Recipe - March Anniversary Social Dinner
A few people have been asking for the recipe we had at the march anniversary party. So, for those who were interested...here it is:
Cafe Rio - recipe feeds about 20?
Dressing
(the dressing needs to be doubled if you want it to feed 20 like the rest of the meal)
1 buttermilk ranch dressing packet - make as per recipe (I have a hard time finding this so I just use a regular ranch packet)
2 tomatillos (tomato like vegetable with a husk around them)
1/2 bunch cilantro
1 clove garlic
juice of 1 lime
1 jalepeno (use the seeds if you like it spicy)
Use a food processor (or blender) to blend all the ingredients well. Refrigerate
Chicken
1 small bottle Kraft Zesty Italian Dressing
1 T chili powder
1 T cumin
3 cloves garlic - minced
5lbs chicken breast
cook all together in a crock pot for 4 hours, shred meat and cook 1 additional hour
Rice
3 c water
4 t chicken bouillon
4 t garlic - minced
1/2 bunch cilantro
1 can green chiles - or equivalent fresh
3/4 t salt
1 T butter
1/4 onion
3 c rice
We just threw it all into a rice cooker and it turned out well (with bismati rice)
If you don't have a rice cooker, then you would probably want to use minute rice or it will turn soggy, and then follow these instructions
Blend cilantro, green chilies, and onion together in food processor. Bring water to boil and add all ingredients (except rice). Stir until well blended. Take off heat and add minute rice. Stand for 5 minutes.
Then top with whatever you like. Tortilla chips, lettuce, tomatoes, black beans, cheese, etc

Be a superhero - April activity
For our service we will be making baby blankets for the children's hospital. We will have things for you to do at any skill level, so if you want to participate but don't sew, we still welcome your help. It will be basic sewing, cutting, and clipping edges. We are looking for a few things:
- 2-3 Sewing Machines (along with some basic colors of thread)
- Cutting scissors
- New fabric cut to crib size (approx 35 inches x 25 inches) - flannel, fleece, or cotton as we can make a few different styles of blankets.
We would like to make and complete 10 blankets that night. If you have any of these items, please contact me by Wednesday night at the latest as I will go out and purchase fabric if needed for the activity Thursday night. You can leave a comment on this blog, or e-mail me at chelsea.sheer@gmail.com, or feel free to call me at home.
